The Frobenius Institute took part in the Science Festival 2024 and presented its rock art collection.

Our colloquium on ongoing research work will begin on Mon 28 Oct 2024 and will be opened by Frijda Schmidt (University of Cambridge, Department of Archaeology, UK) with her lecture ‘Feeding the Etruscans’.

DSC 0142 Once a year, the Frobenius Institute awards the Frobenius Research Promotion Prize to excellent ethnological dissertations in German-speaking countries at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

In April this year, members of the Frobenius Institute founded the Initiative for Ethiopian Stu-dies as part of the Goethe University Postgraduate Academy (GRADE).

The exhibition at the Weltkulturenmuseum “Country bin pull'em. Looking back together”, which was created in cooperation with the Frobenius Institute and can be seen until August 2025, has received positive reviews in the press. Here you can find some recent reviews:

Prof. Dr. Andrew Apter (UCLA) is our guest of this year´s Ad.E.Jensen-Gedächtnisvorlesung 2024 with the title: "Historical ethnography and the ritual archive".

6. Sommersymposium

11.–12. Juli 2024, Frankfurt a.M.

Once again the members of the Frobenius Institute met for a profile conference this year to discuss current projects, plans and research topics at the institute.

Richard Kuba and Katja Geisenhainer participated in the First International Conference of the Histories of Anthropologies (December 4 - 7, online).
