On October 1–2, the DGSKA’s Working Group on the History of anthropology held its mid-year conference in Frankfurt, organized by Katja Geisenhainer and Richard Kuba.

As part of the DFG project “Reclaiming Narratives”, Dr Sophia Thubauville and Igor Karim presented photo albums and a selection of enlarged photographs to staff at the Sidama (in Hawassa) and Gedeo (in Dilla) cultural offices on 14 and 16 October.

On 14 October, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hawassa University, which has been in place since 2015, was renewed.

Yesterday, September 7, 2026, Sophia Thubauville and Susanne Fehlings explained to more than 2,000 children at the Children’s University what ethnology is, how ethnologists conduct research, and what ethnologists know about money.
