Mahlet Alemu Gebrehiwot is an academic staff and a PhD student at Mekelle University, Tigray, Ethiopia. She has joined the Frobenius Institute, Goethe University Frankfurt with the support from Gerda Henkel Stiftung Foundation in May 2024. Her PhD research topic is, “An Ethnographic study of local Knowledge, Perception and, Health Seeking Practices on Cutaneous Leishmaniasis to Empower people with CL in Tigray, Ethiopia.” Her previous researches interests include, Socio-cultural and Development, Migration, Returnees, and Refugee studies. In addition, Social perception on Health and GBV (Gender Based Violence), and Sexual and Reproductive Health researches and visual documentation of people’s daily living.
 

Forschungsschwerpunkte:

Thematisch: Migration, Refugee, Peace building, Conflict and IDP (Internal Displaced People) and Societal perspective on Health, Socio-cultural studies and ethnographic film making and Community Engagement and Involvement as a research Approach
