Alexa Höhn hat an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt Botanik, Zoologie und Physische Geographie studiert und wurde 2005 mit einer Dissertation zur eisenzeitlichen Kulturlandschaftsentwicklung im Sahel von Burkina Faso promoviert. Als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin arbeitete sie zu Landnutzung und Landschaftswandel in verschiedenen, von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) geförderten Forschungsprojekten an der Goethe-Universität in Benin, Kamerun und Nigeria. Bis Mitte 2025 forschte sie im Rahmen ihres eigenen DFG-Projekts zur Entwicklung von Kulturbaumparks im eisenzeitlichen Westafrika. Ihr besonderes Interesse gilt jetzt der Geschichte der Sheabaumparks in Nordghana.

Thematisch: Archäobotanik Afrikas mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Landnutzung und damit verbundenen anthropogenen Vegetationsveränderungen, Großrestanalyse, insbesondere von archäologischen Holzkohlen
