DGSKA Conference in Munich

At this year's conference of the German Society for Social and Cultural Anthropology on the topic "Umstrittenes Wissen / Contested Knowledge: Ethnologische Perspektiven", the Frobenius Institute will also be well represented in Munich from July 25 - 28, 2023.

At our book table, we will have the Institute's new publications as well as the journal Paideuma available for viewing and will be on site as contact persons.

Our staff will also give talks on their current research and host various panels.

Sophia Thubauville, together with Judit Tavakoli, is organizing the workshop of the WG "Family in the Field" entitled "From 'lonely hero' to accompanied research: professional expertise and family interconnections in ethnological fieldwork settings". She will also participate in the roudtable "Anthropologists rareley walk alone: Accompanied fieldwork and the contestation of ethnographic knowledge" by Michaela Haug and Rosalie Stolz.

The WG "Fachgeschichte", whose spokesperson is Katja Geisenhainer, will co-host a workshop with the WG "Museum" on "Historical and Contemporary Knowledge Production and Transmission in Anthropology".

Susanne Fehlings is co-organizer of the panel of the WG "Urban Ethnology": "'Barrio', 'Kiez', "Mahalla": Chances, challenges and changes in neighborhood relations" and will give a presentation entitled "A tale of two bazaars: Success, failure, and aspiration in post-post-Soviet and post-pandemic marketplaces in Tbilisi, Georgia" in the panel of the Regional Group Central Asia and Caucasus.
