On 5 April 2024, the book launch of the book series Southern Ethiopian Studies at the Frobenius Institute took place at the Institute of Ethiopian Studies in Addis Ababa.

In addition to the editor Dr Sophia Thubauville, Dr Anbessa Teferra, Dr Getachew Senishaw and Marius Heimer, who were involved in the publication of the volumes, were also able to attend the book launch. Sophia Thubauville also handed over the books in the series to several libraries in Addis Ababa, including the new Abrehot Library. A second edition of the book series for the Ethiopian market will be published by Addis Ababa University Press.
