We will always remember him as a wonderful person, colleague, friend and mentor. He experienced incredible suffering in his childhood and youth, but in the course of his long life he also experienced the beauty and happiness of existence and passed it on to others. His cheerfulness, his inexhaustible knowledge and his positive attitude to life were a source of inspiration for us all. His work for German ethnology will remain unforgotten. May he rest in peace.
