What does "home" mean? And how is "home" realized?

This is the central question of the photo exhibition "BAXXE ፤ HOME" by Ethiopian photographer Maheder Haileselassie, on display from 21 November 2019 at the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) in cooperation with the Frobenius Institute.

The exhibition contrasts photographs from the Frobenius Institute's archives documenting the early expeditions to the Gedeo region (Ethiopia) in the 1930s to 1950s with contemporary works by young Ethiopians. The exhibition is the result of a photo workshop with six young Ethiopians in Gedeo given by Maheder Haileselassie, and builds on earlier exhibition collaborations between the Frobenius Institute and the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa.
